The Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP)is the legally constituted body established in 2003 under the aegis of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), empowered to determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programmes of medical, dental, veterinary and other health professions education on behalf of the contracting parties in CARICOM. CAAM-HP will serve as the means of providing the assurance of quality that generates confidence in the principal stakeholders, students and the public.

 

The Mission of the CAAM-HP is undergirded by the principles of professionalism, integrity, accountability, transparency and collaboration.

 

On May 10, 2012 CAAM-HP’s accreditation standards and processes were approved by the WFME. CAAM-HP is the first accrediting body recognized through this new process.

Medical Council of India (MCI)

This grants you permission to appear for MCI screening Test. Medical Council of India Screening Test also known as Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), is a licensure examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in India.The test is one of the mandatory requirements for an Indian citizen who has a medical degree from a college outside India, to practice medicine in the country. The other requirement is a compulsory one-year internship at an Indian hospital attached to a medical college (teaching hospital) at MCI recognised hospital or even outside India but internship completion certificate has to counter attested by Indian mission embassy or consulate office there.

 

Spartan Health Science University is listed with MCI and Spartan graduates are eligible to appear for FMGE.
Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)

This grants you the right to take all three steps of the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE),which must be passed to become a practicing physician in the U.S.

Spartan is also in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED),maintained by the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) of Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) of U.S.A.

 

Approved by the WHO and listed in the current WHO World Directory of Medical Schools.

Government of St Lucia

Spartan Health Science University had Full Accreditation from Government of St. Lucia.
The Government of St Lucia has chartered and licensed the University. It is also accredited by the Monitoring Committee appointed by the Government of St. Lucia.

Students of SHSU can appear for the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) and other licensing examinations such as the Medical Council of India Screening Test, also known as Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examinations (MCCQE)and the United Kingdom’s Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board Test (PLAB).

Recommended for NY Approval

Recently a distinguished team from the New York State Education Department, Office Of The Professions determined that the MD program offered at Spartan Health Science University, School of Medicine substantially meets the requirements of the Regulations of the Commissioner of the New York State Education Department. Spartan is recommended for approval from NYSED.

 

Spartan students have been licensed to practice in the USA, UK, Canada and 25 other countries across the globe in the past 35 years. Spartan also meets the GMC requirement of having 5600 clock hours of study during the MD program. The letter from General Medical Council (GMC), UKstates that it will consider holders of PMQs issued by Spartan HSU who started their course of study during or after January 2009 on a case-by-case basis. In doing so, we will be seeking to be satisfied that they hold a PMQ that complies with all of the relevant GMC criteria. The PMQ must satisfy those criteria both at the point the holder graduated, and at the point at which they apply for registration.
